About the place

The feeling of Gelling

Gelling is a remote village and circle headquarters in Upper Siang district close to the international boundary. The Tsangpo enters India near this region and becomes the Siang farther south. Memba Buddhist culture, small gompas and the historic Kapangla trade route add cultural depth to a landscape defined by steep mountains and extreme remoteness.
