Basar is the headquarters of Leparada district and one of the principal cultural centres of the Galo people. Forested hills, cultivated fields, bamboo groves and traditional villages surround the town. Basar is also known for community-led cultural events and provides access to quieter rural landscapes that reveal the everyday character of central Arunachal Pradesh.
