About the place

The feeling of Dubdi Monastery

Dubdi Monastery stands on a forested hill above Yuksom and is closely connected with the establishment of the Sikkimese kingdom. Founded soon after the consecration of the first Chogyal, it is regarded as Sikkim's oldest surviving monastery. A steep walk through forest leads to the quiet stone complex, where monastic architecture, religious art and the secluded setting reinforce its historical importance.
