About the place

The feeling of Pemayangtse Monastery

Pemayangtse Monastery is one of Sikkim's premier Nyingma institutions and is closely linked with the former Chogyal monarchy. Established by Lhatsun Chempo and later expanded, the monastery contains important religious art, including the intricate wooden Sangtok Palri representation. Its hilltop location near Pelling offers broad views across the surrounding valleys and toward the higher Himalayan ranges.
