About the place
Sangetsar Lake, also called Shonga-tser Tso and popularly Madhuri Lake, lies on the high road from Tawang toward Bum La. The lake developed after seismic activity altered the landscape, leaving distinctive tree trunks standing in the water. Surrounded by alpine terrain near the international border, it is one of Tawang district's most recognisable high-altitude natural sites.
