About the place
Tsomgo Lake is a sacred glacial lake on the high road east of Gangtok toward Nathula. Snow surrounds the basin through much of the colder season, while spring and summer bring changing colours and alpine vegetation. The lake has deep cultural significance in Sikkim and remains one of the state’s best-known high-altitude landscapes, reached only with the required visitor permits.
