Hilley is the principal road-accessible gateway to Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary in Soreng district. From here, visitors continue on foot through temperate forest toward the sanctuary, passing rhododendrons, pine, magnolia and oak. Its high ridge setting also provides mountain views, making Hilley more than a trailhead and an important part of the Barsey experience itself.
