About the place
The feeling of Walong
Walong is a remote circle headquarters in Anjaw district in the upper Lohit valley. The settlement is remembered for fierce fighting during the 1962 India-China war, commemorated by local memorials and the nearby Namti Valley battlefield. Pine forests, steep mountains and the Lohit River surround the town, which also acts as the base for journeys toward Dong, Kibithoo and other far-eastern border settlements.
