About the place
Yumthang Valley lies high in Mangan district and is one of North Sikkim’s defining alpine landscapes. The Yumthang Chu runs through broad grazing meadows surrounded by mountains, while rhododendrons colour the valley during the flowering season. Hot springs and the nearby Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary add ecological variety to a landscape that changes dramatically with snow and season.
